Ghost Banana Pops
Frozen banana pops dipped in vanilla yogurt with tiny chocolate-chip faces. Three ingredients, about $0.30 a ghost.
Friendly little ghosts that are basically fruit and yogurt. They are a great "after-school, before-costume" snack.
A quick tip for parents
Let kids give each ghost a different face: surprised, sleepy, giggly. Talking about feelings with silly ghosts is a sweet way to settle down.
Allergens and swaps
Allergy-friendly note (Teal Pumpkin Project): A teal pumpkin on the porch tells trick-or-treaters you have non-food treats or allergy-safe options. Contains milk and may contain soy (chocolate). For dairy-free, use a thick coconut or oat yogurt and dairy-free chips.
Ingredients
- 4 bananas (peeled and halved crosswise)
- 1 cup thick vanilla yogurt (Greek-style works best)
- 2 tbsp mini chocolate chips
- 8 craft sticks
Method
- Line a small tray with parchment. Push a stick into the cut end of each banana half.
- Freeze the bananas for 20 minutes so the yogurt sticks.
- Dip or spoon yogurt over each banana until coated.
- Press in two chocolate chips for eyes and one for an "ooo" mouth.
- Freeze at least 2 hours, until firm. Let sit 5 minutes before eating.
Notes from the kitchen
- Spotty, ripe bananas are sweetest and are often marked down. Perfect for this.
- Make a batch on the weekend; they keep 2 weeks in a freezer bag.
Can I skip freezing?
Yes. Serve them fresh with a spoon, like a ghost sundae.
