Mummy English Muffin Pizzas
Mini pizzas wrapped in cheesy "bandages" with olive eyes. Ready in 20 minutes for about $0.70 a mummy, and kids can build their own.
These little mummies are the easiest win of the season. String cheese peels into perfect bandage strips, so there is no grating, and every child can wrap their own.
A quick tip for parents
Set out the toppings in small bowls and let each child build one. Kids eat more of what they make, and the "messy" mummies always look the cutest.
Allergens and swaps
Allergy-friendly note (Teal Pumpkin Project): A teal pumpkin on the porch tells trick-or-treaters you have non-food treats or allergy-safe options. Contains wheat and milk. For dairy-free, use a dairy-free mozzarella-style shred. For gluten-free, use gluten-free English muffins or rice cakes.
Ingredients
- 3 English muffins (split into 6 halves)
- 1/2 cup pizza or pasta sauce
- 3 sticks string cheese (peeled into thin strips)
- 6 black olives (sliced into rings)
Method
- Heat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Toast the muffin halves on the sheet for 3 minutes so they stay crisp.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of sauce on each half.
- Lay cheese strips across each one in a criss-cross, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes.
- Press two olive rings into the gap for eyes.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes until the cheese melts. Cool 2 minutes before serving.
Notes from the kitchen
- Let kids peel the string cheese. It is their favorite job and it keeps small hands busy.
- Store-brand English muffins work just as well and save about a dollar.
Can I make these ahead?
Assemble up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerate, then bake right before serving.
